Lost Anything Lately?

I'm forever losing books, eye glasses, dvd's, phone, papers & such. My "A place for everything & everything in it's place" doesn't always work. Prayer often does, especially when you get desperate. Money is a definite motivator.

When a dvd from the library disappeared and could no longer be renewed, my method of searching changed from occassional to desperate. $30+ replacement fee was the driving force. As I quietly listened to the Spirit, I was encouraged to:

Clue No. 1 'Look where you haven't looked before'. That's helpful but still alot of ground to cover.
Clue No. 2 'Where would a toddler drop or put it?' Common sense said, look between the floor & three feet up. This narrowed my area.

Crawling around the Family Room for the umpteenth time, I spied the dvd/vcr player that I'd previously all but molested without results. This time I was looking in 'places that I hadn't looked before'. Flipping up the VCR door, there sat the skewed 'Ducky's Word World' dvd. Yeah! Super yeah!

BINGO!! Saved by the 'still small voice'. It works, when you listen.

Close Call to Condenser Crash

Just when we think we must be doing something right, a kick in the butt reminds us to be thankful for small miracles.

Miracle: Tuesday when Dad was trimming 1/8" from a small piece of molding with his mitre saw, the blade bound tossing the wood acrossed the room along with the broken saw blade, pieces of the exploded saw & narrowly missed cutting off a finger or two. Everyone ducked just in time. except Jory's arm took a shrapnel hit.

Ten hefty digits continue to stay in working order, thank heaven! One mitre saw, carbide tipped blade & prayer of protection used up.

Mess averted: Within 24 hours we discovered water dripping in our 34 year old tried & true freezer. Glad to transfer all the still frozen food to the small freezers in our two refrigerators, we called a repairman. $550 to fix the crashed condenser, it was decided to opt for a new one.

200 pounds of meat and food saved along with two, more or less, very valuable fingers.

Cost for saw, blade & freezer $1000; fingers priceless!!!

Sip Into Something Spectacular

On a hot summer day, I think about cool icey drinks. I could buy one, but it's Sunday. Make one, but too lazy. Then I'll dream about one. Maybe not, because:

I'm still fuming about missing out on the strawberry drink at the wedding luncheon and the Lime or Coconut Rickey's served at Sarah & Jory's reception. Not wanting to be the first in line I waited too long. It's no fun when your mouth is watering as you await your turn for one to find out the sweet sipping cool drinks are ALL GONE. SLURPED UP, UP, & AWAY!!

It looks like Zach got one. From the smile on his face it was superific. I'll just have to imagine what it was like or get to the front of the line next time. Move over Aaron & Dave, I'm next.

Six Words Only

It's become pretty popular to write a biography, feelings, favorites or whatever doing it 'in six words only'. That's pretty hard for me to do as I tend to be long winded. I'm challenging each of you to do a six word response to this post about your Thoughts about the above picture, Favorite food, Favorite part of summer.

Sibling Fun:

Remember heavier part happily happens here.

Food:

Chewy chocolate caramel, nutty delicious treat.

Summer:

Breezy mountain hike, peaceful morning meditation.

Do You Know the Way to St. Mark's, Jose?

After five days of visiting Breann at St. Mark's Hospital, my car definitely knows the way. Walking into the ground level, the elevator whisks up to 4th floor. You can see the Oquirrh Mtn Temple out the south foyer windows as you find her room.

She's had her share of iv's, Cream of Wheat, pudding, nurse calls & walking around the triangle of patient rooms. But they won't release her, because the output is greater than the intake. That can be a problem for us humans. In the working world employers love people willing to do 40+ hours per week. Religion is all about giving more than 100%. Bodies, however, need to be perfectly balanced.

Breann's the best of patients, taking care of her own needs & dressings, only pressing the call button when some beeping thing is driving her crazy. I became her advocate getting a supply of tissues, ointment & fresh water, etc. Just ask, they'll eventually bring it, I told her. It may take five tries, but don't give up.

A little lumbar support would be nice, too. The mattresses fail in firmness, letting you down when you need that pick me up more than ever. Never mind the incision, her back ache is a 9, on a scale from 1-10. She could use a back rub.

Give her toast, cold cereal and a banana to eat. Enough already, of the creamed soups & jello. No wonder a river runs through her.

This One's a Keeper

Amid the hurry, late sitters arrival, hustle & bustle and the newlyweds saying, "Yes!".

Between the rain & sunshine, misplaced shoes and suit, gourmet food and music, naps & forgotten TV everyone made it to the reception. Along with the children gazing at the trophy fish, playing in the fort and airplane riding, their parents visited and the happy couple greeted guests.

After cake down the bride's neck, small Sarah with her flower bouquet and Noah escaping onto the deck; someone took this picture when no tears were flowing, rain was elsewhere, and everyone smiled.

What a MIRACLE!!
