Breann & Baby's Shower

Brayle was assigned to take pictures of the baby shower we held a few weeks ago.  There are three.  Take a look at the diaper cake centerpiece with yellow polka-dot accents and bottle scrubber.

Breann taking a breather and contemplating motherhood.   She looks quite small for being eight months plus along.
Sarah, our artist in residence after making the cake, cake pops, Rice Krispie treats and punch.  She is terrific.

Nanna Gets a Nail Job

When little Sarah got bright pink and lightening white nail polish from Aunt Sarah, I was the guinea pig for the primping party.  The undercoat was white with the hot pink on the top.  Drag a sharp point through each nail and you get the diagonal striped look.

Since I don't often wear polish, it drove me crazy.  It was scratched off at the airport to come home.  I wish a quick picture had been snapped before the polish disappeared.

An Eggstra-ord-in-New-Jarsey Easter

What is more fun than spending time with the grand-angels?  Going far far away to be with them over Easter.  Now their parents may not agree with the 'angel' concept, and neither did I, at that time in my life, but it's true.

When holidays become ho-hum, weekends wane, and trips trite, it's time to see the grandkids. The joy in their eyes when eggs turn colors, laughter in escaping a dodge ball, excitement in finding a quarter in a plastic egg brings back our own childhood memories.

Oh, Nothing is better than that!

A Magical Night

If my eight year old grand daughter can go to see The Magic Flute at the Metropolitan Opera, then I should make a point to go to it at the Capitol Theatre.

I bought the tickets eight months ago, took the afternoon off to prepare and nap.  Visited the library and checked out a cd as well as book to get familiar with the story, that I should know but don't.  Made the honey shave and I even ironed his shirt.
People came in sparkling gowns and/or denims with sneakers.  We got great seats and the two gals in front of us were late, so they weren't seated until after intermission.  This was our first live opera (first opera ever) so as the lights lowered and the music began, we anticipated great things.

We were not disappointed as the story about a prince, Tamino, with a magic flute was tasked with saving a lovely princess, Pamina, from her wicked mother's grasp unfolded.
The years of perfecting those amazing voices to belt out German or whatever language of lyrics, so it resonates off the ornate walls of gorgeous theatres is beyond words.  Fortunately the speaking parts were in English, with subtitles for the singing parts or we would have been oblivious.

All ended well when the prince came through earning the hand of the princess through sacrifice, obedience and love.  They lived happily ever after in Sorastros kingdom of righteousness.   Now I can say, I've been there done that and may try again.

Not One Bit Sad

I am not one bit sad that today is the last day of winter.  In fact, there is exactly twenty four hours and a few left, before we welcome the official spring equinox at 2pm tomorrow, March 20th.

We made it! At least most of us did. Quite a few people, especially elderly went home. Lucky guys. But to make it through this long, dark, icy and extremely cold winter is a major plus.

I don't care if rain or possibly snow is predicted for tomorrow. Doesn't matter because it will be 'Spring!' No more ice, double gloves, winter coats, snow plows burrowing down the road with the speed of a landing jet and just as noisy.

Crocuses, tulips and hyacinths have turned my flower beds green with anticipation for pastel colors.  Here comes the sun.

Cirque Was a Treasure

Mystere' was specifically designed to be housed at this hotel almost twenty years ago.  What a hoot to watch the different story lines unfold.  It was a hold your breath, fun event.  Go if you get a chance.  It is worth it.

Sarah's Significant Day

Hey, Happy birthday, Sarah.  This is one of your significant days, I'd say.  We thank the day you came into our family via 'the Man'.  This increases our team to five with "J" as the coach.  Your eternal smile, amazing cooking, generous nature and multiple talents push us to the top of the Schmidt heap.

Your burgeoning family of mammals, water and earth bound, keeps us bragging & helps develop those nurturing traits that come naturally to you.  Thank you for being so super and have a great day.
