What to wear

If there's one thing that Jed actually HAS introduced me to, it's the importance of a good pair of sunglasses. I bought a pair of nice sunglasses a little over a year ago and I LOVE them! I look for reasons to wear them. If it's overcast, then I am disappointed because I can't wear them. I will wear my contacts just so that I can wear my sunglasses. A few important points: UV protection is so important, and spend the extra money for polarized lenses - it's worth it! I do have an opinion on the incredibly stupid-looking huge bug-eye sunglasses of the day: they look not just stupid, but redonkulous (think of your mom's sunglasses from the 80's. I guess that this demonstrates my old age!) Also, whoever said white sunglasses were cool was an absolute idiot! I have not seen a single person look good in a pair of white sunglasses, seriously. The above is an example of both the huge and the white. Also shown are the sunglasses that I have. I seriously think that they probably look good on anyone: Smith Method is the brand and style. Oh, and if you're concerned about spending a lot of money on a pair and then losing them or damaging them: Jed says that if you spend more you are definitely going to be more inclined to take good care of them (I haven't lost mine yet whereas Jed's dad has lost numerous pairs that he gets at the dollar store.) They also all pretty much have great warranties where they'll replace the lenses or the entire pair for you. It's worth considering!

Breakfast sandwich

I've been eating it like a crazy lady: an egg, cheese and ham breakfast sandwich. Your start with a fluff-o egg (remember those? beat an egg and tiny bit of milk, salt and pepper in a bowl; microwave 1 minute) a few slices of deli ham (or you could use bacon or sausage if you want) and a slice of cheese. I toast two pieces of bread to put all of these delectable things on, but I've also recently used an English muffin too. Another good thing to do is wrap this all up in a tortilla - you can even add a little bit of potato for a hearty burrito. McDonalds would be jealous.

Almost Heaven for 35 Years-No, But Pretty Darn Good

Nothing can compare to heaven, but the past 35 years of ‘honey do’s, don’ts and won’ts’ has been pretty darn good, as I reflect on our anniversary. I cease to be amazed at how:

Fast Dad gets his ‘to do’ list done.
The key: Make his list short.
He lets me choose the restaurant, movie, goodie.
The key: Don’t let them know it.
He will buy the gas, food,& gives me cash.
The key: Be really nice to them.
Never complains about the meals, house & such.
The Key: Don’t draw attention to it.
Is willing to let me give the best route when driving.
The key: Try not to backseat drive.
Keeps his mouth shut.
The key: Keep your mouth shut, even when it is really hard.
Is softened w/scripture reading.
The key: Do it yourself & mention its advantages.
Leads by example.
The key: Honor, respect & appreciate the Priesthood he holds.
Thanks occasionally for the things I do.
The Key: Always thank him for everything he does & don't complain.
Is such a great guy.
The key: Overlook what bugs you and focus on all the good.
Still loves me & lets me know it.
The key: Be generous with yourself.

May we all remember what great husbands we have and be glad the Lord has blessed us so abundantly. Love you, Allan take care & hope for many more. Colleen

Zach, 365 Blessings Later

Zachary is ‘one year old’ tomorrow. He has given his family 365+ blessings, in that short amount of time. Every day they see his smiling face, hear that tiny laugh, observe his excitement over the smallest thing, clean up another mess, play peek-a-boo, gaze into those bright eyes, strap up the car seat, choose the day’s outfit, rescue him from danger, cuddle him as he sleeps and 355 other unnamed events, joy is found in each of those moments. With that heart full of joy, there is pleasure and gratitude that he is a healthy, happy, busy child blessed to be theirs by the Lord. Happy Birthday, little guy. May you have many, many more & be just as fun as you were, this first year of your life. (Alicia, will you post a picture of him?)

Alma Mater Turns 100

Bingham High School is officially 100 years old. On September 9, 2008, they will be handing out birthday cake to anyone that walks in the door. Dad & I will have to represent our 7 alumni for the occasion. We will let you know how it all goes and if we decide to donate money for a brick with our name on it. Happy Birthday, BHS, Some of us met out future husbands, enjoyed many a fun dance, had & hated the same teachers, performed in sports, plays & such, made many new friends, sang the same songs, learned many things, graduated and so much more in those halls. Thanks for the memories.

The Yard Sale Winner Is: Aaron

The much anticipated yard sale finally happened this past weekend. After four months of gathering, 8 weeks of promising, 7 days of staging and 20 years of collecting, I hauled all of the household rejected innards onto the driveway promptly at 9am. Dad (against his will, mind you) moved the bulky counter from the deck out as well. It was our bag & pay center. Cars began screeching their tires, pulling off the road and people appeared from everywhere, even before we could put our signs out. That was Brayle’s job.

At a birthday lunch with Mauri & Aaron, I mentioned the pending sale and Aaron jumped for joy as if he’d bagged an animal. I couldn’t back out this time. The DI drive w/trailer was at the church for backup on all unsold items. I also arranged to do a scrapbook sale of name brand things for $1 each, from a lady with a shop in Heber. I would get $1 credit for every $10 sold. I was committed this time.

The Grantsville gang pulled onto the lawn with a truck load of tools from their garage about 9:15am. That’s what brought all the men dickering back & forth with Aaron, just like an auction. He ended the day with $350 and two tools left to sell. The scrap booking was a hit with the top buyer spending $74 bringing in a total of $260. My cast offs netted me a measly $95. We loaded up the remaining stuff & took it to the church except for a few things for our next yard sale in 4 weeks. Aaron has lots more to sell.

Pill Popper

It's true; I've become a pill popper. Growing up I used to refuse to take anything -even for a headache! Now, I'll take a pill to solve almost any problem: headache, stomach ache, gas, you name it! (Okay, so I'm not really SOO bad as that) I've just found that in some cases, a pill actually WILL solve the problem. The above is what I currently take on a daily basis: 12 Asacol for Ulcerative Colitis, 40 mg Prednisone for UC, Lomotil (6-10 per day, depending) - also for UC, 1 multivitamin, 1 (Yaz -greatest thing for the acne in my life). I now will potentially start on Remicade (an infusion) or Humira (an injection) in the next week or so, I hope. I'll find out Tuesday what the verdict is on that.
